LEWISVILLE, Texas— Dave Campbell’s Texas Football unveiled its 2023 magazine cover Monday featuring the UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor and Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire.

The 400-page, full-color magazine covers football in Texas from high school and recruiting to college and the pros. This year’s edition will feature an insider’s look at how UTSA Jeff Traylor and Joey McGuire of Texas Tech went from Texas high school football icons to college football stars, and what that means for both sports, written by texas socceris Mike Craven.

“Since I was six, I’ve read every word of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine every year, so I get asked to be on the cover of a magazine that features more than 1,400 high schools as well as every our state’s varsity teams is a huge honor and something that will always be very special to me,” Traylor said. “Joey is a very dear friend who I have enormous respect for, which makes him even more special.”

Traylor is entering his third season leading the UTSA program. The 2021 USA Conference Coach of the Year and AFCA FBS Region 4 Coach of the Year led the Roadrunners to a 19-7 record in his first two years at the helm , the best two-year record of any UTSA coach.


Under Traylor’s tutelage, the Roadrunners enjoyed a record-breaking campaign in 2021, winning their first 11 games and breaking into the top 25 for the first time in program history in a season that culminated in a record 12-2, a conference championship and a second straight and third bowl game overall.


UTSA will open its 12th season Sept. 3 against Houston with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at the Alamodome in a game that will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.
