Research

Each guide starts from a research brief with sources: publisher help pages, library and government pages, and reporting by established outlets. The sources are listed at the end of every guide.

Figures and prices

Numbers are published only when a source supports them, and prices are described as valid at the time of writing. Where a price moves often, the guide explains what moves it instead of printing a figure that will go stale.

Legal routes only

Guides describe official free tiers, library access, discounts and gift links. They never describe ways to break a publisher’s terms.

Partner content

Articles placed by partners are labelled as such, listed on their own page and never presented as guides of the desk.

Corrections

If a guide is wrong, write to the address on the contact page. Corrections are made in the text and noted at the end of the guide.
