Magazine coverSpider-Man: No Way Home magazine cover apparently implies Sandman will appear in the movie
Sometimes you just can’t control what third parties accidentally spill. This seems to be the case for Spider-Man: No Coming Home right now.
Comic Resources reported that one of EmpireThe covers of may have accidentally revealed that Sandman will debut in Spider-Man: No Coming Home. Specifically, their subscriber-only version of the cover of their October 2021 magazine issue. You can see said cover art above.
Among the many references to various Spider-Man villains, you might notice a very specific one on the bottom right of the cover, just above and to the right of Dr. Strange’s Eye of Agamotto. There, you can make out a fist forming from what appears to be yellow sand. This seems like a pretty obvious reference to Sandman (aka William Baker/Flint Marko) from the Marvel Universe. He has always been one of Spider-Man’s most recurring enemies and a founding member of the Sinister Six. Note that these are only speculations based on a magazine cover. Take it with a grain of salt until we get actual confirmation from Sony.
Spider-Man: No Homecoming ~ More Villains?
Sandman aside, we get direct confirmation from the trailer for Spider-Man: No Coming Home as to what villains will appear in this film. Heck, Doctor Octopus appears in person in the trailer to greet Peter Parker. You can’t be more direct than that. There’s also a very distinct orange and green that click into place accompanied by a creepy laugh before exploding, giving us a very strong sign that Green Goblin will be making an appearance in the film as well.
Even the Empire The October 2021 cover for their regular readers above also has more obvious hints of other villains set to appear in Spider-Man: No Coming Home. Not the things from the Doctor Strange Portal, as it seems to be working with Peter Parker rather than against him. However, in the upper right corner, you can see blue lightning bolts. Comic Book Resources says it may involve Electro (aka Maxwell “Max” Dillon) appearing as another classic Spider-Man villain to make a cameo. We’ll have to find out how all of these heroes and villains will stack up once the movie hits theaters.
Conclusion
Empire may have unknowingly revealed Sandman’s appearance in the latest upcoming Spider-Man movie in their October 2021 subscriber issue cover. I mean, how else to explain that yellow, sandy fist that’s starting to form ? It is an interesting addition to Spider-Man: No Coming Home alongside Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin and Electro. Guess we’ll have to wait until December 17, 2021 to see how all of these villains interact (read: fight) with each other, especially Tom Holland’s Spidey.
