The fame and support Australian children’s band The Wiggles have gained over the last 12-18 months is what you’d expect from a brand new band and now, finally, after decades in the business, these Australian icons receive the accolades they rightly deserve.
Children’s entertainers graced the cover of Rolling Stone magazine for the very first time.
Newly released images show the group, which includes Tsehay Hawkins, Lachlan Gillespie and Simon Pryce alongside OG Wiggle Anthony Field for the upcoming September cover.
“Like Rolling Stone, the Wiggles have stood the test of time. Here is a band that for three decades has entertained and inspired generations to come,” said publication editor Jake Challenor.
At 16, Hawkins also becomes the youngest person to appear on the local cover of music and pop culture’s iconic masthead.
It’s been a huge year for the band who took first place in this year’s hottest Triple J 100 hottest countdown with their mashup of Perth’s Tame Impala song Elephant and hit Fruit Salad.
Most recently, the band performed with pop sensation The Kid Laroi on their comeback national tour, American rapper Lil Nas X also sang their praises, as well as a last minute addition to the Falls Festival.
The next issue – which includes a Wiggles-themed adult coloring book – hits newsstands in Australia and New Zealand on Monday, September 5, 2023.
