Energy choices on supply and equipment require verification of sources

DEAR SOLAR SPOTS: I received a postcard in the mail from Smart Energy for a $100 gift card. Is it legit or is it a scam? — Unnamed, Buckfield

TO RESPOND: It is legitimate. You can choose 100% renewable energy. Find more information here: https://smartenergy.com/. Be sure to read everything before signing up and call 1-800-443-4440 if you have any questions.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I received a letter from Efficiency Maine regarding heat pumps for eligible residents through LHEAP, SNAP or Maine Care. There is a number to call but it does not say if the cost of your electricity will increase.

Do you know these? Maybe a reader installed one in the past and found that their electric bill had gone up.

I hope to get more information from a reader who has been involved in this program.

Thank you for all the wonderful work you do for so many of us. — Unnamed, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding vinyl records, I remember a few years ago I saw information about who accepts and sells vinyl records. I need to free myself from a heap, rather than take them to the dump. For those who are interested, please contact me at [email protected] – Margot, no town

TO RESPOND: If your vinyl records and album covers are in good condition, Bull Moose may want to buy them from you. They are at 20 East Ave. in Lewiston. Call them at 784-6463.

FinestKind Vinyl Haven in Brunswick at 147 Maine St. (729-6513) is also a great place to check out. There may also be individual collectors in Sun Spots Land.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The previous tenant name before Wendy’s was Hong Kong Express. It was great Chinese fast food and they had the best shrimp fried rice! — Diane, Lewiston

TO RESPOND: Here’s a letter from the reader who first asked the Chinese restaurant question last month. She seems satisfied to have his answer and has sent a thank you note to everyone. Great job, Sun Spotters:

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you and your readers for helping to find the name of the Chinese restaurant that years ago stood at 1103 Lisbon St. in Lewiston. After reading all the replies my family and I think it was the Hong Kong Express. Many of the other answers evoked fonder memories of dining out in my youth. — Unnamed, Lewiston
