The agency specializing in sonic branding, in collaboration with the world-renowned company Chineke! Orchestra, brought Strauss’ instantly recognizable blue Danube sound to London’s newest railway, the Elizabeth Line.
London-based DLMDD turned to Chineke! Foundation when looking for a youth and community orchestra to perform the iconic soundtrack. Founded by lead bassist and Royal Academy of Music teacher Chi-Chi Nwanoko MBE OBE, Chineke! is made up of predominantly black, Asian and ethnically diverse musicians.
Nwanoku said, “That was exciting for the Chineke! Orchestra to record the soundtrack for the launch of the new TfL Elizabeth Line. Our message to champion change and celebrate diversity in classical music embodies the incredibly rich crossroads of all of London’s cultures, which this new line will serve.”
DLMDD worked with the integrated communication agency VCCP on the campaign entitled “Bringing more of London together”. As Woolwich Station is part of the Elizabeth line, the orchestra rehearsed and recorded the soundtrack a stone’s throw from the brand new creative district of Woolwich Works.
Greg Moore, co-founder of DLMDD, adds: “Chineke! were the perfect orchestra for the Elizabeth Line soundtrack as they embody the very essence of the campaign – bringing together the people of London. It was a great pleasure to work with such a talented and diverse group of musicians to record Strauss’ Blue Danube, marking a historic moment for London and its connectivity.
